Professional Experience

2009

CTVC/Truetube (London) – AP/Video Instructor-Trainer on ‘TrueVan’ project, travelling England teaching young people in deprived areas to make social/campaigning films including all aspects of film making and editing. My role also involved delivering video content for Truetube and other video websites. All films were screened at the BFI and can be viewed at www.truetube.co.uk ‘TrueVan’ section.

Education
In 2006 I was awarded a MA in Screen Documentary from Goldsmiths College, University of London.

Completed Human Rights training with British Institute of Human Rights (BIHR) in 2004.

In 2002 I was awarded a BA (Hons) in Radio, Film and Television with American Studies (2:1) from Canterbury Christ Church University.
___________________________________________________________________________________As As a Director I have made many short documentaries that have been screened in festivals around the world including the 3rd Aljazeera International Documentary Film Festival in Doha and the British Film Institute's National Film Theatre in London.  My films have been included in festival programmes such as 'Best of UK Shorts' and have won awards including ReelTime Competition 1996/7 Meridian TV Prize for Best Documentary. 

As an AP/Researcher my strengths lie in dealing with people, particularly in sensitive situations, finding contributors, gleaning information and gaining favours.  I have experience of researching stories in the UK, US, Spain, Palestine, Iraq, China and Burma and filming across the Middle East, South East Asia, Europe and the US. I also have experience of negotiating access to institutions, including schools, individuals and dealing with large UK and international broadcasters.

Additional skills
I often self-shoot and have over eight years experience of shooting on the Sony Z1 and PD170 and recording sound using the Sennheiser 416 mic, Evolution radio mics, SQN mixers and DAT recorders.  I now shoot HD on Sony Z1 and A1.

I can be used on location as Additional Camera/Sound or as Shooting Researcher/AP or DV Director.  I am trained and have 7 years experience of handling lighting and grip equipment.

I also have over eight years experience of editing on Avid and two years editing on FCP as well as experience in recording and editing radio and audio sequences using SADIE software, writing short articles for publication, designing and maintaining websites and producing factual moving image content for the internet.
